Biographical Information: ALEXANDER PURVIS, born 8th October (or 26th December) 1812 at Burntisland (or Kinghorn), Fife, Scotland, died 21st June 1819 at Glassmount, Kinghorn, Fife, from the effects of a burning accident, buried in the churchyard of Kinghorn Parish Church, Kinghorn, where he shares a tombstone with Alexander Spears (or Speirs), husband of his sister Mary Purvis (see 1.1.3.7.3. above). On this memorial his name is spelt Purves.
