Biographical Information: ANN I. PURVIS (ANNIE), born c.1806 in Columbia, South Carolina. Fundholder. Living (1828 - at time of marriage) at 5 Annandale Street, Leith Walk, Edinburgh, Scotland, (1851) at 5 Malta Terrace, Edinburgh, and (1861) at 36 Dublin Street, Edinburgh. Anne Blackie (sic) appears (March 1866) as a petitioner, resident in Great Britain, in the court case in Warren County, Mississippi, against Thomas Purvis Bruce (see 1.1.3.1.1.6. above), executor of the will of her brother John Purvis (see 1.1.3.7.2. above). Resident (May 1867) in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England, per petition brought by Thomas Purvis Bruce (see 1.1.3.1.1.6. above) for final settlement of the executry of her brother John Purvis (see 1.1.3.7.2. above). Married (18th February 1828 in St Cuthberts Parish Church, Edinburgh, and 20th February 1828 in Dundee, Angus, Scotland) William Lennox Blackie (Lennox) (died before March 1851), general merchant in Dundee, having five children:- [Note: In a letter of 13th May 1848, John Purvis of Kinaldy (see 1.1.3.6.1. above), mentions paying for the education of “Mrs Blackie's children”, which probably refers to the children of Ann I. Purvis or Blackie (see 1.1.3.7.5. above), whose husband had died before 1851 and whose children would have been aged between 5 and 18, or, less likely, to the children of Eliza Purvis or Blackie (see 1.1.3.7.4. above), whose husband died before 1853 and whose children would have been aged between 17 and 23. In March 1866 the surviving nieces, nephews and their descendants (i.e. heirs) of John Purvis (see 1.1.3.7.2. above) petitioned the court in Warren County, Mississippi, against the executor Thomas Purvis Bruce (see 1.1.3.1.1.6. above) of John Purvis' will.
