Alice Clara (clara) Purvis

Biographical Information: ALICE CLARA PURVIS (CLARA), born 28th July 1864 at Kinaldy, Cameron Parish, near St Andrews, Fife, Scotland, died 17th August 1954 at Stravithie, Dunino, near St Andrews, buried in Dunino Churchyard, Dunino. Owned the estate of Lingo, Arncroach, Fife, which adjoins Kinaldy to the South West and which she sold 195?, living latterly in a flat at Stravithie House, Dunino. Married (27th July 1905 in St Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh, Scotland) John Crum Grahame (Jack), D.S.O., of Lingo, Arncroach (born 2nd February 1870, died 19th August 1952, buried in Dunino Churchyard, Dunino), Lieutenant Colonel Highland Light Infantry (H.L.I.), entered the army (1892) with the 2nd Battalion Highland Light Infrantry, served on the North West Frontier of India (now Pakistan) (1897-98), Ashanti, Gold Coast (Ghana) (1900), Southern Nigeria (ARO Expedition) 1901-02 (wounded and awarded (1902) the D.S.O.), in World War I in Flanders (Belgium) and France (1914-19) in command of the 10th (Services) Battalion and the 2nd Battalion Highland Light Infantry (wounded 1915 at Loos, Lens, France, by gassing, and severely wounded 1917 at Oppy, near Arras, France), retired 1921 due to wounds, son of James Grahame (born 16th June 1833, married 1862, died January 1917) and Agnes Crum of Thornliebank, Renfrewshire, Scotland, having no children.
