Biographical Information: HERBERT CHARLES PURVIS, born 24th July 1897 in Victoria, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, christened 22nd August 1897 by Rev. Canon Beaulands in Christ Church Cathedral, Victoria, died 26th October 1945. Lieutenant Commander Royal Navy. Served throughout World War I (Battle of Jutland, etc.), also in the Caspian Sea (1919) against the Bolsheviks. Mentioned in Despatches. Married (4th March 1941 at the British Legation, Sofia, Bulgaria, by the Rev. H. Chalmer Bell), as her 1st husband (she married 2nd ….. Caragiale and was living (1962) at 23 rue Vaneau 7e, Paris, France, and (1976) in Paris), Elsie Linda Clarke, daughter of T. E. Clarke (living in 1941) and ….. (died before 1941) of Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England, having no children.
