Biographical Information: ROBERT NEWTON PURVIS (NEWTON), born 18th July 1899 probably in Tiptonville, Lake County, Tennessee, died 3rd November 1981 in Mobile, Alabama, buried in Spring Hill Cemetery, Mobile County, Alabama. He was not yet 2 years old when left an orphan by the deaths of his parents, but was brought up by his aunt Cornelia Eleanor Purvis or Calhoun (Cora) (see 1.1.3.5.4.4. above) at Colfax, Louisiana. Eloped and married (c.192?) Rebecca Averell Lining (Averell) (born 30th July 1902, died 20th May 1975, buried in Spring Hill Cemetery, Mobile County), daughter of Charles Austill Lining, engineer manager of Spring Hill Water Works, having three daughters:-
