Biographical Information: ROBERT PURVIS ADAM, born c. March 1861 in Edinburgh, Scotland, died 21st January 1935 at The Elms, Abbotsford Road, Galashiels, Selkirkshire, Scotland. Mercantile clerk (1891) and drysalter (from 1892) in Galashiels. Founder of the firm R. P. Adam Ltd, chemical manufacturers in Selkirk, Selkirkshire. Living (8th April 1861 and 3rd April 1871 per censuses) with his parents at 14 Dundas Street, Edinburgh, and (5th April 1891 per census) still living with them, aged 30 and unmarried, at 42 Drummond Place, Edinburgh. He was informant (1888) of the death of his 1st cousin Thomas Purvis Bruce Jr (see 1.1.3.1.1.6.1. below). Married (19th June 1891 at 39 Cockburn Street, Edinburgh, by declaration, and again on 16th December 1891 at St Andrews, Edinburgh) Isabella Thomson Wallace (Belle) (born c.1868, died 1955 at The Elms, Abbotsford Road, Galashiels), living (1939) at The Elms, daughter of Forbes Thomson Wallace, agent of the Royal Bank in Leven, Fife, Scotland, and of Helen Morgan, having four sons:-
