Mary Purvis Adam

Biographical Information: MARY PURVIS ADAM, born 17th November 1857 at 14 Dundas Street, Edinburgh, Scotland, died 29th March 1936 at 10 Minto Street, Edinburgh, aged 78. Living (3rd April 1871 per census) as a scholar aged 13 with her parents at 14 Dundas Street, Edinburgh, and (1887) at 42 Drummond Place, Edinburgh. Beneficiary of £10 under the will of her aunt Eliza Russell Bruce (see 1.1.3.1.1.5. below) in 1893. Married (1st June 1887 at 42 Drummond Place, Edinburgh) James McGregor Jack (born 12th December 1855 at 28 India Street, Edinburgh, died 3rd August 1934 at Auchinger, Bayswell Road, Dunbar, East Lothian, Scotland), her 1st cousin (see 1.1.3.1.1.2.2. above), clerk with the Edinburgh & Leith Corporation Gas Company and (1891) Solicitor to the Supreme Court (S.S.C.) with his office at 4 North St David Street, Edinburgh, and living (1871) with his parents at 1 Blenheim Place, Edinburgh, (until 1891) at 6 Mansfield Place, Edinburgh, (1891 and 1899) at 28 Wilton Road, Edinburgh, (1901) at 4 Peel Terrace, Edinburgh, (1922) at 19 Mayfield Gardens, Edinburgh, and (1934) at time of death at 10 Minto Street, Edinburgh, 2nd son of John Jack (born c.1811 at Perth, Perthshire, Scotland, and still living on 16th March 1899), Depute Clerk of the Court of Session and Clerk to Lord Deas, Edinburgh, and of Margaret Bruce (see 1.1.3.1.1.2. above) (born 6th May 1813 at Tulliallan, Perthshire (now and since 1889 Fife), died 16th March 1899 at 18 Wilton Road, Newington, Edinburgh), having six children:-
