Biographical Information: HELEN BRUCE, born c.1818/20 at Tulliallan, Perthshire (Fife since 1889), Scotland, died 5th February 1903 (aged 85) at 4 Cobden Road, Edinburgh, Scotland. Living (8th April 1861 and 3rd April 1871 per censuses) at 14 Dundas Street, Edinburgh. Mentioned (1893) in the will of her sister Eliza Russell Bruce (see 1.1.3.1.1.5. below). Married (5th August 1845 at Edinburgh), as his 2nd wife (he married 1st Mary Hardie, having one son:- 1. William R. Adam, born c.1839 at Edinburgh, a student aged 22 and living (8th April 1861) unmarried with his father and step-mother at 14 Dundas Street, Edinburgh, but not in 1871), Alexander Adam (born April/November 1813 at Fordoun (or ? Auchinblae), Kincardineshire, Scotland, died 11th November 1891 aged 78 at 42 Drummond Place, Edinburgh), teacher of English with his own school (Mr Adam's School) at 17 Union Street, Edinburgh, from c.1833 and still operating in 1871, and later (by 1879) Registrar of Births for St Andrews District, Edinburgh, son of John Adam, contractor and formerly farmer, and of Elizabeth Crow, having at least nine children:-
