James Bruce
Biographical Information: JAMES BRUCE, born 1851 in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland, died 21st March 1899 at 16 Queen Anne Street, Dunfermline. His christening mug (dated 1851) was in the possession (1991) of the widow of his grandson Robert Dowthwaite Bruce (see 1.1.3.1.1.3.1.2.1. below). Damask manufacturer's agent and linen merchant. Linen warehouseman (1887). Living in 1861 (aged 10) with his parents in Dunfermline, but had probably left home by 1871. Witness at the marriage of his sister Isabella Laurie Bruce (see 1.1.3.1.1.3.2. below) in June 1879 in Dunfermline. Usual residence at time of death (1899) was Allerton Road, Lordship Park, London N16, England. Married (September 1882 at Harvey Street Church, Hoxton, London) [Note: their granddaughter Lena Annie Wishart White or Marjorie Lena White (see 1.1.3.1.1.3.1.3.1. below) has an illuminated bible given to them on the occasion of their marriage by fellow teachers of the Sunday School of this Church] Annie Lang (born 31st July 1858 or 1859 probably in Scotland, perhaps Glasgow, died July or August 1927 (aged 69) at 67 Princes Avenue, Wood Green, London N22) who had three sisters and lived latterly as a widow at 67 Princes Avenue, Wood Green, having three children:-
