Biographical Information: JAMES BRUCE, born c.1816 at Tulliallan, Perthshire (now and since 1889 Fife), Scotland, died 29th September 1901 (aged 86) at 28 Queen Anne Street, Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. Grocer and wine merchant in Dunfermline, living at 28 Queen Anne Street, “a house with nine windowed rooms”. Was in Edinburgh, Scotland (May 1857) when informant of the death of his nephew John Purvis Bruce (see 1.1.3.1.1.6.3. below). Mentioned (1893) in the will of his sister Eliza Russell Bruce (see 1.1.3.1.1.5. below). Married (8th April 1850 in Dunfermline) Magdalene Reid (born c.1823 in Dunfermline, or ? Glasgow, Scotland, per 1861 census, died 17th January 1909 (aged 86) at 28 Queen Anne Street, Dunfermline), daughter of Andrew Reid, linen manufacturer, and Isabella Lawrie, having six children:-
